Aims & Scope
The Journal of Nuclear Medicine is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal from Directive Publications dedicated to advancing nuclear medicine, molecular imaging, and theranostics. It publishes original research, reviews, case reports, and editorials spanning diagnostic and therapeutic applications of radioactivity in medicine, with an emphasis on translational work that links radiopharmaceutical science to clinical practice.
The journal covers positron emission tomography (PET/CT and PET/MRI), single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT/CT), and hybrid imaging; FDG and PSMA imaging in nuclear oncology; theranostics and radionuclide therapy, including lutetium-177, gallium-68, and emerging alpha-emitter radioligands; radiopharmaceutical synthesis and radiochemistry; internal dosimetry; and nuclear medicine physics and radiation protection.
We serve nuclear medicine physicians, radiologists, medical physicists, radiochemists, and translational scientists seeking a discoverable venue for rigorous research. Every submission undergoes double-blind peer review; accepted articles are published under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY 4.0) licence, with authors retaining copyright.
All articles receive a permanent Crossref DOI and are indexed for discovery through OpenAlex, Google Scholar, and an OAI-PMH endpoint. The journal follows COPE ethical principles and offers article-processing-charge waivers and discounts to widen participation.

Frequently Asked Questions
What topics does The Journal of Nuclear Medicine cover?
The Journal of Nuclear Medicine covers diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine, including PET/CT and PET/MRI, SPECT/CT, FDG and PSMA imaging, theranostics and radionuclide therapy (such as lutetium-177 and gallium-68), radiopharmaceutical synthesis, internal dosimetry, nuclear medicine physics, and clinical nuclear oncology.
Who should read and publish in The Journal of Nuclear Medicine?
The journal is intended for nuclear medicine physicians, radiologists, medical physicists, radiochemists, and translational researchers. Authors working on molecular imaging, theranostics, radiopharmaceuticals, dosimetry, or clinical applications of PET and SPECT are encouraged to submit.
Is The Journal of Nuclear Medicine open access, and who holds copyright?
Yes. Every article is published open access under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY 4.0) licence, so anyone can read and reuse the work with attribution. Authors retain copyright to their work.
How does peer review work at The Journal of Nuclear Medicine?
All submissions undergo double-blind peer review, in which author and reviewer identities are concealed. The journal follows COPE ethical principles to ensure integrity in publishing, authorship, and conflict-of-interest handling.
What article types does The Journal of Nuclear Medicine accept?
The journal accepts original research articles, review articles, case reports, and editorials addressing methodological, translational, and clinical aspects of nuclear medicine, molecular imaging, and theranostics.
Will my article get a DOI and be discoverable?
Yes. Each accepted article receives a permanent Crossref DOI and is made discoverable through OpenAlex, Google Scholar, and an OAI-PMH endpoint for harvesting, supporting long-term citability of the scholarly record.
Is there an article-processing charge, and are waivers available?
An article-processing charge applies on acceptance to sustain open-access publication. Waivers and discounts are available; please contact the editorial office to discuss eligibility before or during submission.
How do I submit a manuscript to The Journal of Nuclear Medicine?
Review the author guidelines and aims and scope, prepare your manuscript accordingly, and use the journal's submit page to upload your work. Theranostics, PET/CT, SPECT, radiopharmaceutical, and dosimetry studies are especially welcome.
